All About Church

The nursery is almost completely painted. I've gone everyday since Thursday but I only have two days left to go. The difference is quite remarkable. I started taking photos after I primed but I wish I had taken some at the very beginning when it was still a storage room. Anyhow I plan on posting the photos here after it's fully painted and equipped with changing table and rocking chair.

I went early Saturday morning to paint and I was listening to my iPod, belting out some song that I can't even remember now, when I saw someone suddenly from the corner of my eye. I screamed. Actually it was more of a squeak-scream; it didn't even sound like me. It was a couple from church who take care of the candles (replacing them, trimming wicks and the like). I was so embarrassed. They complimented the room and we made small talk but all I could think about as we stood there talking was how ridiculous I must have sounded singing to music they couldn't hear and then screaming like some deranged mouse. Good times.

Yesterday hubby and I went to Mass and as it was Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week, the church was full. In front of us was a couple with five children, the oldest being maybe 10. Their last two children were twins, Peter and Paul. How do I know their names? Because it was mayhem the entire hour. The kids would not sit still. The parents didn't bring anything for them to do. When they saw Jr. with her books and water and crackers, you could see the envy in their eyes. The parents sniped at each other: "You don't have to be such a dick!" (Yes, in church and loud enough for everyone to hear!) or "This is not a daycare! Turn around!" (Yes, this was the dad talking to the mom!) "Peter's escaping!" or "Don't let him do that! Once you let him, it's over!" It was chaos. Good birth control, honestly. The mom hit the nail on the head when she said, "This is why we don't go to church!" I can understand why if you can't keep everyone under control! But it's kind of sad they're missing out, too.

Wishing you all a great beginning to your Holy Week.
