A Shower, Snot and Socializing

Yesterday I brought Jr into the shower with me for the first time. I really needed to wash my hair and I didn't feel like hearing Jr cry the entire time I was showering.
I discovered one major setback to showering with your kid: the water can't be as hot as you'd like.

Besides that, it went fairly well. At first I had her in my arms and she cried. Then I put her down with some toys but she would start crying if I stood up. So I washed my hair on my knees. Awesome. But after that she seemed more comfortable and I was able to finish my showers completely erect. I don't know that I'd do it all the time but I can see doing it every once in awhile. (No I didn't use the contraption you see to your left to shower with Jr. Do people actually use these??)

Unfortunately, Jr has a runny nose with a bit of congestion. Thankfully she still slept very well last night but today I've already gone through half a box of tissue wiping her nose. I feel doubly bad for her because she has difficulty sucking on her suess because of her semi-stuffed up nose. I remember what that was like when I sucked my thumb: not fun! I'm guessing tonight's sleep won't be so good. The photo to your right is a snot sucker. You suck the snot right out of their nose! It's great because as most of us know, infants don't know how to blow their nose yet. Yes, it looks gross but there's a filter that catches all the boogers so you don't swallow them.

On a brighter note, my grandmother, Jr's great-grandmother, is visiting from out-of-province and we will be seeing her today. And as the icing on the cake, Jelly Belly and my sister and BIL are back from the States for this visit so we get to see them too!
Happy Friday!

  1. Rob tried to wash Jelly Bean's hair with the shower head, which freaked her out of ever wanting to go near the bathtub again. And she likes taking baths! Luckily she was not afraid of the US bathtub. I've been bringing her in the shower with me to get her used to it, and she's gotten better, but she still prefers to be held. Our US shower head is not adjustable, so I think she doesn't like it because she gets water in her eyes. Never thought about sitting down with her though.
