Paint, Penner and Raffi

Last night I went to the church to start priming the nursery. I was surprised how many people were there for various meetings. I was afraid it would be dark and creepy but with so many people there I didn't notice. Until the last person said goodbye and then I was really alone. The nursery door opens to the church; it was eerie walking in the dark to the sacristy where I could wash out the brushes and paint tray. When I was at the sink I felt a little better because the room next to the sacristy is the chapel and I knew someone was in there. I also locked the front door of the church so that no one could accidentally (or purposefully) wander in without having a key.

In any case, I cleaned the walls and taped around the doors and baseboards (taping is the worst part in my opinion). I put on the first coat of primer and honestly, it didn't look like much had changed. The walls are so dingy and marked up I'm wondering if two coats of paint are going to cover everything.

I am so sore this morning. It has been over a year since I last painted and while the finished product is very satisfying, you tend to forget the aches and pains that go with getting it done. I'm hoping to go back tonight to put on the second coat but it all depends on whether or not hubby is working late.

I recently bought Jr some new music to listen to: Fred Penner and Raffi. They are both Canadian artists although as my sister once put it, "Some people are Raffi families and some people are Fred Penner families." Ours was a Fred Penner family while our cousin's was a Raffi family. I still remember sleeping over at her house and my uncle singing Raffi songs; at the time I thought he was making them up himself!

So far we've listened to the Raffi CD and Jr is a big fan of Brush Your Teeth ("When you wake up in the morning and it's quarter to 1, and all you want to do is have some fun, you brush your teeth!") and  Robin in the Rain ("Robin in the rain, you're a saucy fellow!"). It sure brings me back!

Hope you have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!
