The Last Birthday Hurrah

Only two more weeks until Easter! I know the time will fly by. My goal is to finish the nursery at church for Holy Thursday Mass. So far it's been emptied of its prior contents and now comes the cleaning and prepping for painting. I have been going back and forth on the colors. Obviously something gender neutral. There aren't any windows and from what I've read, light/pale colors aren't the best choice because they wind up looking dingy so darker colors are actually better. My sister suggested one accent wall. But what colors?? I also want to go to the dollar store to see what kind of wall stickers they have. My sister bought some for Jr's room in a jungle animal theme and they're very cute. Plus, you can't beat the price! So maybe I should see what they have and go from there. I'm pretty excited to get started. I really like painting; it's very satisfying to see the concrete change.

Yesterday Jr. officially had her last 1st birthday party and received her last birthday gifts. On Saturday we got together with friends at a nearby sugar shack (mmmm maple toffee) and she received presents from everyone. Sunday we had dinner with my side of the family and she received presents from everyone. It was a pretty amazing weekend! Shoes were a very popular gift. I think it stemmed from this photo:

Yup, that's Jr at the park with no shoes. In my defense, the weather turned very quickly from winter to summer in a matter of days and I didn't have time to get her summer shoes. It was much too warm for her boots and since she's not walking I didn't think it really mattered. Okay, granted, she looks like a hobo baby without her shoes but what can you do. Anyhow, she has summer shoes now so no need to send me shoes en mass (but if you're so inclined she wears size 4! :)

So we're Monday once more. Time for laundry, putting the garbage out tonight and trying to get back into routine. It's chilly but the sun is shining so I'm hoping to get Jr out for a walk. The last time we went out she fell asleep face forward on the stroller tray. It looked so uncomfortable that I pushed her back against the seat. She woke up screaming. If she falls asleep again (although I doubt it in this cooler weather) I'm just going to leave her as is.

Hope all is well with you!

  1. I got her shoes before I saw this picture. :)
The way I see it, if they're comfortable enough that they can fall asleep, then they're comfortable enough to stay asleep. I'm a little jealous they can fall asleep just like that anywhere.

I would go with a nice vibrant yellow.
