Birthday Fun

Yesterday was the first time Jr. drank whole milk. She took her cup eagerly, believing it was her usual formula. When she realized it wasn't, she let what was left in her mouth spill out onto her chin. Oh no, I thought, here we go. But at dinnertime she drank some without any fuss; she didn't drink a lot but at least she didn't spit it out. This morning, however, when she woke up at around 6 and hubby gave her a bottle with the cow's milk, she refused to drink it. So we were all up very early together this morning. At least she'll need a morning nap today whereas ever since she started sleeping in later she hasn't. Pros and cons, pros and cons.

Her birthday was fun. The two of us when to the zoo since the weather was so nice. Since it was a Monday morning there weren't a lot of other people there. She was much more aware of the animals this time.

When hubby got home from work she opened her present from us. Jr. is obsessed with remote controls (who isn't obsessed with control??); whenever she sees me or hubby using a remote, cell phone, telephone, whatever, she wants it. Sometimes we give her the remotes for the XBox, which satisfies her for awhile. Sometimes I give her the baby monitor because it looks like a remote and it has lights. But what she really wants are buttons to push that light up. So for her birthday we bought her a toy cell phone. Unfortunately the buttons don't light up one at a time, the entire button panel lights up when you press something. She seemed to really like it and I'm hoping it'll pacify her when she wants one of our remotes. Probably not!

Then we had supper together and gave her an Elmo cake her grandmother had made for her. At first she wasn't too sure but when we encouraged her she dug right in. It was pretty awesome. The clean-up not so much. The red icing stained her hands and mouth so it took some good scrubbing in the bathtub to get it off.

I'm loving this birthday fun! She still has more birthday fun this weekend with my family and our friends! Woo hoo!
