Day Three: My Views on Drugs and Alcohol

Day 3 of the 30 Day Writing Challenge!

Day 3: My Views on Drugs and Alcohol

When I first read this topic, I thought of all of my Moral Religious Education (MRE) classes in high school. EVERY year we'd cover drugs and alcohol and their evils. Boooring!

My sister, Malt_Soda and my brother-in-law, Moonraker, are both high school teachers. Now I wish I had one of them for teachers! They do some cool and relevant stuff in their classrooms. Okay, I can hear you saying drugs and alcohol are relevant for teenagers! True. But I've never been tempted to do drugs. In my mind, I need all the braincells I have. I just can't afford to lose any! The people I know who do drugs and I mean serious drugs, are enough of a deterrent. They're...special. I just hope my daughter has the same sense to see it when she's older.
As for alcohol, I remember wanting to try some because I wanted to understand what all the fuss was about. It seemed that it was what adults drank and I wanted to be an adult! Turns out, it's not everything it's made out to be. Especially beer.
And some wines. People often bring my hubby and I wine when they come over for dinner or for gifts. The truth is, we're not very big wine drinkers and most of the time we <gasp!> re-gift those bottles! I know. The shame. Well, except homemade wine. Can't get rid of that... we're not that crass...or are we...
Anyhow, I'll have a wine cooler, maybe a mixed drink every once in awhile but that's about it.
I don't think there's anything wrong with drinking as long as you do it responsibly. Namely, no drinking and driving. Other than that, I don't mind if you get drunk but I'd prefer not to be around you. Either you're an obnoxious drunk, saying stupidities or worse, hurting someone's feelings with your verbal diarrhea OR you're one of those annoying, giggling, nonsensical drunks. If I'm not drunk too, IT'S NOT FUNNY. It's awkward.

So that's my take on drugs and alcohol. I won't get into drugs and alcohol in today's society or how it's affecting our youth cuz this ain't no PBS special! PEACE!
