Noah, Are You Done?

What have I gotten myself into this time??

Our church recently created a handicapped washroom. Space was tight so they chopped the men's washroom in half. After many months both washrooms are ready to use. The only thing left to do is paint. So of course, after painting the nursery, a far larger space, I thought, What's two small washrooms? No problem! I volunteered my services.

I went last night for the first time and was overwhelmed with the lack of sanding. When they said it was ready to paint I thought they really meant it. I spent time sanding (and not doing a very good job I might add since sanding is just not my forte) trying to get it prepped for priming.

I also forgot my step ladder so a fellow warden found me a ladder. I'm scared of heights, did I mention that? But I did what had to be done. It took forever to place the ladder in the ideal position to reach the high corners and tight spots.

I also forgot my stick so I had to roll up high. Argh!

The best part, I think, was when I accidentally knocked over the tray of paint on the floor with the ladder. Yup, that was great fun. Thankfully I cleaned everything before it could set.

Oh, and then there was the little boy and his mom who came to use the washroom. I was in the men's room up on the ladder. So the mom told the boy to go in the women's washroom. You'd think she had asked him to eat a worm or something! The moaning and groaning and whining! "It's weird in here! Are you sure you're standing by the door? I don't like it! Why can't I go in the other washroom?" And his mom, "Noah, are you done? Noah, just go! Noah, are you done?" I was almost ready to get off my ladder, move it in the hallway, take out the paint and wait in the hallway so this kid would just go pee and leave me in peace.

The kicker is I have painting to do in my own house! After this I doubt it'll get done anytime soon!
