Randomness

Anyone have any advice on how to soften dry hands, particularly the fingertips? I have obviously tried hand cream but it feels like as soon as I put it on I have to wash my hands for some reason or another. I've never had my fingertips so dry; they're starting to crack! It started when we bought new dining room chairs. They had to be assembled and instead of using the wrench-thingy that came with them, I twisted the screws on until they could only be tightened with the do-hickey-thing-a-ma-bob. This was a few months ago. Since then my fingertips look like... I don't even know what. I always get dry hands in winter; I've come to expect that.  But my fingertips have never been like this. I hate it because when I touch things, like gliding my fingertip across the pad on my laptop to move the cursor or tickling Jr., I can feel how dry they are. I'm sure it's not a pleasant experience for Jr.! I heard somewhere about soaking your hands in oil but I'm wondering if there isn't an easier, less oily way?

So it hasn't even been 48 hours and Jr. has 40 friends on Facebook. Impressive, I know. What's great is that we've already received messages from both sides of the family, people from our church and friends. Hurray! Hubby and I are quickly discovering how it's possible to spend a lot of time on Facebook. Especially when you first join and you have notification after notification of people who accepted your friend request, people who are requesting you as a friend, people who are commenting on your photos, people who are "liking" your photo, people who are writing on your wall... It's fun!

I've just finished reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I was telling hubby that I had forgotten how many more details are in the books and how satisfying it is. Only two books left. It makes me sad when I finish a series; it's like saying goodbye to a good friend. This is why I like rereading some books: it's like saying hello to a good friend! After I finish this series I'm going to read The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls, which was lent to me by AD. It just so happens my sister finished reading it not too long ago. She says it makes you appreciate how normal your own family is. Looking forward to it!

I can't believe tomorrow is February 1st. Where did the time go? I'll be turning 28 soon and next month Jr. will be turning 1 year old! I still remember my dad saying she would be 1 before we knew it. I laughed because she was 1 week old at the time and it felt like we would always be tired and she would always need to eat every 2 hours. But here we are. She's sleeping through the night (minus some blips here and there) and eating regular food 3 times a day (with bottles in between). Progress!

  1. I love Petroleum jelly or baby lotion.

  2. If you put hand cream on before bed, you will avoid having to wash hands. Also, I put it on immediately after I wash hands.

I'm all ears!
