Outings

That's my daughter at the Biodome yesterday, watching the fish. It was a long, 45 minute drive through crappy weather and not quite cleared streets but we made it. Jr. seemed more interested in the other kids than she was in the animals but I still think she had a good time. I enjoyed myself and I think hubby did too. It's nice doing family activities together. It's becoming more and more apparent that we're in a new group. We had lunch in the Biodome's cafeteria and there were either young adults or young families at the tables. I had to laugh because we would always avoid the young families and now we've become them. We had our monstrous stroller with what felt like 10 million things and we took turns feeding Jr. so we could eat our lunch. Then when we actually went into the ecosystems we took up so much room with our stroller people had difficulty getting around us. I watched the other families with two or more kids and I wonder what that would be like. At least Jr. isn't walking yet and is easy to watch. In any case, I'm glad we went and I look forward to taking her again when she's older.
Today we went to get photos taken at Magenta Studios, thanks to AD. We wanted a family portrait but more than that we wanted to take cute photos of Jr. with angel wings or butterfly wings or in a tutu. Okay, so maybe it was just me. Hubby was a little grouchy about the whole thing. I think it's a guy-girl thing. Most women think taking photos is important and a worthwhile investment whereas most men (including my husband) don't see the point of spending so much money on photos that we could take ourselves. The entire session was very tiring. There were quite a few costume changes and Jr. doesn't like getting changed at all, never mind umpteen times. She also didn't smile very much. She's a very cautious baby; when she's in a new surrounding, it looks like she's trying to analyze and understand everything. So when the photographer and her assistant were taking pictures and trying to get her to smile with a feather or with a smiley flower, Jr. just looked at them quizzically. Even her favorite lovey, her frog, couldn't make her to smile. I even tried singing the Golden Girls theme song (to my extreme mortification) when she started getting fussy! I don't even think the photographer and assistant knew what I was singing; they looked like they were 15. Anyhow, they took a whole bunch of photos, with different props and costumes. In the end we chose the butterfly wings and one family shot. It could have been very easy to spend a lot of money but we held back. I'm looking forward to getting the prints!
