Sad news! Belles Mamans Pregnancy and Parenting Center is closing. I guess they couldn't afford to pay the rent anymore. There was a newsletter and a slash in prices a few months ago but I guess it wasn't enough. It's really too bad because it was a very nice location, with very nice staff and with a lot of different things to do. My sister and I went to the prenatal yoga classes and then when our babies were born we went to the baby yoga classes. I also went to the Child Development classes, first for babies 5-7 months and just now for 7-9 months. It was nice to be able to meet with a bunch of different women and their babies to talk and play. If you needed to vent about something there was always someone to listen; and because there were at least 5 other moms, you could find someone who could empathize because they were going through the same thing. I remember one day going in and really needing to grumble about Jr.'s lack of sleep to someone. So I turned to a mom next to me and said, "So, how's P's sleep?" She replied, "Oh, it's great. He's been sleeping through the night since he was born." I smiled, said that was great and turned to the mom on my other side and said, "So, how's F's sleep?" She replied, "Not good... he's up almost every 2 hours!" Relieved, I said, "Me too!" Most of all, it was good to know that I was getting out of the house at least once a week. I couldn't stay in day after day with my only adult conversation being with hubby at the end of the day.
There is another place I can go to, Le Baby Shop, and it's actually in my neighborhood. It's main business is selling baby stuff (clothes, furniture, toys, etc.), which is why it is surviving and Belles Mamans didn't. The classes are an addition. I went to Belles Mamans because my sister introduced me to it but also because it was cheaper. But I guess if I want to continue this type of thing I'll have to bite the bullet.
It was fun while it lasted. Thank you Belles Mamans!
