Don't Trust Anyone?

It's a sad day when we're told, "don't trust anyone". I read an item in the Gazette this morning that really burned my bacon and also made me sad at the same time.
A 59-year-old woman answered her door at 8:15pm on Saturday night. On the other side of the door was a woman who looked about 7 or 8 months pregnant. She asked to use the phone because she was lost; the homeowner let her inside to use the phone. Not long later, two men came into her home, bound her hands and feet and ransacked the house. The homeowner eventually made her way to the phone and managed to call police.
As someone who was pregnant not too long ago, I take personal offense at what this pregnant woman did (if she was even really pregnant). I don't think many people would suspect a visibly pregnant woman of being involved in home invasions. So she took advantage of this so she could case this other woman's house. In response to the burglary, the police rep is quoted as saying, "don't trust anyone".
Great. So if anyone comes to my door for whatever reason, I shouldn't let them in? Man, woman, child? Pregnant, disabled, elderly? No one makes the cut? I would hope, that if I was ever in a pickle, someone would help me--regardless of whether or not I was pregnant but especially if I was so far along in my pregnancy!
